The 10th Anniversary Seminar Celebrating the Establishment of Natural Disaster Management Course at Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia

The 10th anniversary seminar celebrating the establishment of the natural disaster management course was held at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on Sept. 12 and 13, 2011. This course was established at the university as part of the Integrated Sediment-related Disaster Management (ISDM) Project for Volcanic Areas (2000-2006) which was undertaken as JICA⟨fs technical cooperation project. The course was established to produce high-level engineers who can lead integrated disaster prevention activities in Indonesia. Since the end of the ISDM project, the course has been administered by the university in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works of Indonesia. The seminar was co-hosted by Gadjah Mada University, the Ministry of Public Works, and JICA. About 200 people, including academics from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia⟨fs public works officials, and over 10 sabo engineers from Japan, attended the seminar to discuss various problems related to natural disasters.
