The 2026 Taiwan-Japan Joint Research Conference on Sabo was held in Taiwan from April 19(Sun.) to 25 (Sat.)
On 20 April, the Taiwan-Japan Conference of Technical Exchange on Sabo was held at the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation (Nantou County). Representatives from both Japan and Taiwan presented two topics each, followed by a general discussion.
Furthermore, following the conference, participants observed a natural dam failure experiment within the National Chung Hsing University Experimental Forest, where a lively exchange of views took place with Taiwanese researchers.
On 21 and 22 April, in Chiayi County, we inspected landslide prevention works in the Wuban-zi area and visited the construction site of stream conservation works—designed with due regard for the ecosystem and landscape—on a tributary of the Qingshui River, exchanging views at each site.
On 23 April, the delegation attended the ‘30th Anniversary of the National Cheng Kung University Disaster Prevention Research Centre and International Symposium’, held at the National Cheng Kung University International Conference Centre (Tainan City). Following the commemorative ceremony, the ‘2026 Taiwan-Japan Symposium on Sabo Prevention Technology’ was held as one of three parallel sessions. The event featured four presentations from both the Japanese and Taiwanese sides, followed by a general discussion.
