Detail | The Sabo (Erosion and Sediment Control) Department of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Public Works Research Institute (PWRI) and International SABO Association held the “Japan-Indonesia Joint Sabo Workshop,” jointly with the Ministry of Public Works, Republic of Indonesia, on Monday, February 25, 2013, at Jakarta, Indonesia. At the Workshop, the PWRI and Research Center for Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works, Indonesia also concluded a joint research agreement on a landslide dam that formed last July in the Waiera River, Ambon Island, Maluku Province, Indonesia.
The workshop was held for the first time, based on the technological exchange memorandum agreed last February between the Directorate General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works, Indonesia and Sabo Department, Water and Disaster Management Bureau, MLIT. After the keynote lectures from both Japan and Indonesia, there were discussions on administrative and technological policies. The audience members also asked questions about a method of creating a hazard map and gave their opinions on making a landslide dam permanent. |
