Detail | Interpraevent 2016 was held in Lucerne from May 30 to June 2, 2016, with about 600 participants from 15 different countries. A total of 38 Japanese participants included government staff, university staff and consultants.
There were presentations and discussions, in line with the theme of “living with natural risks,” about various subjects including infrastructural measures, land usage, risk assessment and evacuation during a warning against disasters such as debris flow, avalanches, rock falls, floods and glacier lake bursts. Two Japanese participants gave presentations, too. At the closing ceremony, the representative of Toyama Prefecture called for participation in Interpraevent International Symposium 2018 in the Pacific Rim to be held in October 2018. On June 1, there were inspection tours for 10 different courses at the sites of erosion and sediment control, avalanche and floods. After the tour, there was a meeting for sand erosion administrators from the governments of nine countries (Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland and Taiwan). There was an active exchange of opinions about governments’ activities for sand erosion including usage of hazard maps, and the importance of facility reinforcement focusing on life cycle cost. |
