2025 April Japan

Holding of Returnee’s Debriefing Session

~Lectures by Mr. Takasue Hayashi, JICA Long-term Expert,

On April 10, 2025(Thur.) at the conference room of Sabo Kaikan “Tateyama”, Mr. Takasue Hayashi, a JICA long-term expert in Brazil, held a returnee’s debriefing session. Thirty-five members of the association and so on participated in the meeting.

Mr. Takasue Hayashi reported on the progress of the “Capacity Development Project for Structural Measures against Sediment related Disaster for Resilient Cities” (commonly known as the SABO-Project)*, as well as future plans and assignments.

*In Brazil, rapid urbanization since the 1950s has led to the development of areas where sediment disasters are expected to occur, resulting in an increase in the number of disasters. So Brazil is currently implementing a four-year project called the “Brazilian Capacity Improvement Project on Landslide Disaster Mitigation for Building Resilient Cities” (commonly known as the “SABO-Project”) starting in July 2021 to develop technical standards for implementing sand weir construction and training programs for federal, state, and municipal government officials.
