The 2024 Taiwan-Japan Joint Research Conference on Sabo was held in Taiwan(Nantou County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, etc.)  from September 8 (Sun.) to 14 (Sat.) by the Chinese Soil and Water Conservation Society and the Taiwan Disaster Prevention Society etc.,thirteen members of the Japanese delegation (led by Hiroyuki Ohno, President of the International Sabo Association, and President of Japan Sabo Association), including officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association.

 

Taiwan-Japan Joint Research Meeting was held at Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, MOA on September 9, the 2024, 3 topics were offered from both sides respectively, and common issues of both sides were discussed.

 

At the symposium held at Cheng Kung University on September 11, four research reports were presented from the Japanese and Taiwanese sides, respectively, and a general discussion was held.

During the site visit, the participants inspected the sites of sediment disasters caused by Typhoon Kai-mei that hit Taiwan in July of this year (Kepingkeng, Yuho Creek, and Fanping) and environmental conservation projects such as the restoration and nurturing work and the Sinhua Forestry Area Ecology Method, and exchanged opinions with each other.
