2024 Japan-Taiwan Joint Research on Sabo (2024/12/8-14) was held
From December 8 (Sun.) to 14 (Sat.), 2024, 15 members of a research team from Taiwan, consisting of researchers from the Chugoku Hydrological Society and the Chugoku Disaster Prevention Society, came to Japan and held the 2024 Japan-Taiwan Joint Research Meeting on Sabo.
On Tuesday, December 10, the Japan-Taiwan Sabo Technical Exchange(Administrators) Meeting was held at Sabo Kaikan, and from Wednesday, December 11 to Friday, December 13, the participants visited Sabo project in the Osawa fan area of Mt. Fuji, the landslide countermeasures project in the Yui area, the Kano River Sabo Project in the Izu Peninsula, the Kanogawa diversion channel built as part of the flood control project in the Kano River basin, and at the Kakitagawa Spring Park, removal of invasive alien species as a nature a restoration project based on the Kakitagawa Nature Restoration Plan
During the inspection, we also paid courtesy visits to Fujinomiya City Hall and Izu City Hall, where we met with Mayor Hidetada Sudo of Fujinomiya City and Mayor Yutaka Kikuchi of Izu City. We also had an opportunity to meet with Mayor Shigeki Iwai of Higashi Izu Town, Vice Chairman of the Beautiful Izu Creation Center, and exchanged opinions on expectations for further mutual exchange not only in the field of sabo but also in tourism, economy, and other areas.
