Detail | The 2017 Taiwan-Japan Joint Research Conference on Sabo was held with the participation of 15 members from Taiwan from July 24th to July 28th, 2017. They were from the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, Council of Agriculture, the Chinese Soil and Water Conservation Society and the Taiwan Disaster Prevention Society.
On July 24th, the Symposium of the 2017 Taiwan-Japan Joint Research Conference on Sabo was held at the Sabo Hall in Tokyo. The Japan-side and Taiwan-side each made three presentations on the latest measures and findings on sediment disaster management, and after that the active discussion was implemented. After holding the Japan-Taiwan Sabo Exchange Meeting at the Sabo Hall on July 25th, the participants went to Fukushima until July 28th. They visited the affected areas by the Great East Japan Earthquake, the site of the 1998 flood and sediment disaster, the civil engineering heritage “Jizohara Sabo Dam” which was designated as the Registered Tangible Cultural Property and “the Mount Bandai Volcanic Eruption Memorial Museum”. They also observed the channel works of the Arakawa River and the Higashikarasugawa River which were used for hydro power generation for the local development of Tsuchiyu Hot Springs. |
