12 January Colombia Landslide On 12 January, heavy rains caused a massive landslide near the village of El Carmen de Atrato in the north-western Colombian department of Choco, South America, killing at least 34 people and injuring several dozen others.
13 February Turkey Landslide On 13 February, a large pile of sediment collapsed at the Copler mine in Erzincan province in the mountains of eastern Turkey after gold had been extracted, triggering a major landslide and sending mudslides into the valley. At least nine workers were lost as a result.
18 February Afghanistan Landslide In the early hours of 18 February, a landslide triggered by heavy snowfall killed 25 people, injured eight others and destroyed or wrecked about 20 houses in Nakre village, Nuristan province, eastern Afghanistan.
22 February Brazil Landslide Stormy weather hit the southern part of Rio de Janeiro state late on 21 February, with the western part of the state capital recording more than 40 mm of rainfall per hour by early morning on 22 February. The rainfall caused landslides in Barra do Pirai, Japeri, Mendes and Nova Iguacu, outside the state capital, and at least eight people were confirmed dead in the state on 22.

Torrential rains caused flooding, landslides and mudslides in hillside villages around Koto XI Tarusan village, Pesisir Selatan district, West Sumatera province, Indonesia, killing at least 26 people and leaving six missing. At least 26 people were killed and six missing. They destroyed schools and caused bridges and roads to collapse into rivers. It also damaged 113 ha of farmland and nearly 700 houses, affecting at least 39,000 people.
24 March  Indonesia Landslide One woman was killed and nine people, including a child, were missing when a landslide occurred in the village of Cibenda, West Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, on 24 March after two hours of record-breaking heavy rain.
24 March Brazil Landslide Heavy rainfall over a 72-hour period from 21 March caused serious damage, including deaths and injuries, from flooding and landslides in south-eastern Brazil, particularly in the state of Espirito Santo and the neighbouring state of Rio de Janeiro. Of these, 19 were killed in Espirito Santo State as a whole, 15 in Mimoso do Sul, two in Apiaca and eight in Rio de Janeiro State, while six others were missing. Some 7,000 people were evacuated throughout Espírito Santo State.
3 April Taiwan Rock Fall At 8 am on 3 April, a magnitude (M) 7.4 earthquake struck 15 km south of Hualien City, Hualien County, Taiwan, killing at least 18 people, injuring 1,145 and leaving 442 people isolated due to road cuts and other problems. Three aftershocks of magnitude 6.0 or greater followed. In Taroko National Park, 10 hikers were killed by falling rocks.
14 April Afghanistan. Debrisflow On 14 April, at least 33 people were killed, 27 injured and suffered heavy economic losses as a result of flooding and mudslides caused by three days of heavy rains since 12 April. In addition, some 600 houses were damaged, 200 livestock died, some 600 km of roads were destroyed and some 800 ha of farmland were inundated
29 April Kenya Debrisflow At least 46 people were killed when mudslides hit Kamuchiri village in Rift Valley Province, western Kenya, early on 29 April after torrential rains caused a dammed lake to burst.

More than 1,000 mm of rainfall fell in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul between 29 April and 4 May, causing floods, landslides and mudslides, making it the worst disaster in the state’s history. The disaster affected a total of 2,398,255 people, with 806 injured and 175 confirmed dead. In addition, 422,753 people were forced to evacuate
11 May Indonesia Debrisflow At least 62 people were confirmed dead and 25 missing in the disaster, which was triggered by mudslides and volcanic mudflows caused by heavy rains on 11 May in Sumatra, western Indonesia.
24 May Papua New Guinea Landslide In the early hours of 24 May, a massive landslide in Enga Province, Papua New Guinea, buried more than 150 houses in the villages of Yambali and Kaokalam from the collapsed Mount Mungalo, killing over 670 people.

On 13 June, six people were killed and five others were missing in the north-eastern Indian state of Sikkim after torrential rains triggered mudslides and landslides in the Himalayan region straddling India and Nepal. Four people were also killed in a landslide in the neighbouring Nepalese state of Koshi.
7 Juy Indonesia Landslide On 7 July, heavy rains caused a landslide at an illegal gold mine in the Bone Bolango region of Gorontalo, Sulawesi, Indonesia, killing 23 people. A further 18 people were rescued, but 33 are missing.
12 July Nepal Landslide In the early morning of 12 July, two buses caught in a landslide in Chitwan district, central Nepal, plunged into the Trishuli River, which was swollen by daily monsoon rains, and three people were rescued, but more than 60 people were missing, including passenger
19 July China Debrisflow On the night of 19 November in Shangluo, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, debrisflow caused by torrential rains caused part of a highway bridge to collapse and vehicles were swept into a river. 7 vehicles that fell into the river were found by the morning of 20 November, 12 people were killed, 18 vehicles were involved and 31 people were missing.
20 July China Debrisflow A mudslide that occurred at around 2:30 am on 20 July hit Xinhua village in Hanyuan County, Sichuan Province, south-west China, where heavy rains continued. Forty houses were damaged, eight people were killed and more than 30 people were missing.
21 July Ethiopia Landslide At least 229 people, including children, pregnant women and police officers, were confirmed dead by 24 July after two landslides in Gofa, southern Ethiopia, East Africa, on 21-22 July.
28 July China Landslide Twelve people were killed and six injured in a landslide in Hengyang City, Hunan Province, South China, in the early morning of 28 June, caused by the continuous heavy rains of Typhoon Kheyi (GAEMI). In Linjiang City, Jilin Province, two officials, including the deputy mayor, also went missing during flood rescue operations.
30 July India At least 277 people were killed and more than 200 others are missing after heavy rains triggered a massive landslide in the hilly Wayanad district of the southern Indian state of Kerala in the early hours of 30 July.

At around 3.30 am on 3 August, mudslides and landslides caused by heavy rainfall in Ridi village, Kangding, Garze Tibetan Autonomous, Sichuan, south-central China, killed eight people and 19 people are missing, Many houses were destroyed and 939 people affected.
5 August Ethiopia Landslide At least 13 people were killed in a landslide triggered by heavy rains in the Wolaita region of southern Ethiopia on 5 August. More than 300 people were evacuated from the Kindo Didaye area.
23 August Thai Landslide A landslide on the Thai resort island of Phuket on 23 August killed 13 people, including a Russian couple and nine migrant workers from Myanmar, injured about 20 people and affected 209 families.
28 August Yemen Landslide

In the village of Al Lahef, Melhan district, Mahweet governorate, hours of torrential rains triggered landslides and mudslides across the country’s highlands, killing at least 33 people and damaging some 200 houses.
7 September Vietnam Landslide Heavy rains from Typhoon Yagi (Yagi), which made landfall on 7 September, triggered a series of landslides in the north-west province of Lao Cai, killing 88 people, leaving 85 missing and 70 injured as of 9am on 12 September.
27 September Nepal Landslide The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains in central and eastern Nepal that began on 26 June has risen to 217 (according to the Home Ministry on 30 June), with the disaster affecting several provinces, leaving at least 28 people missing and forcing thousands to flee their homes.
30 September Iran Debrisflow Debris flows hit the southern Iranian city of Jiroft on 30 September, killing 15 people.
