25  January Brazil. 166 people have been killed and 155 are missing so far after a mining dam burst on 25 January in south-eastern Brazil.
26 January Indonesia One hundred people may still be trapped inside an illegal gold mine that collapsed in Bolaang Mongondow, North Sulawesi, Indonesia, and all are feared dead. So far, 19 survivors have been rescued, while nine people have died as a result of the hard rescue efforts.
14 March Mozambique, Disaster struck in Mozambique, southern Africa, with the death toll from Cyclone Aidai likely to rise to 1,000.
20 March Brazil In the three months of this summer, a total of 38 people were killed by flooding in the state of São Paulo, seven in the city of São Paulo and 31 in the rest of the state. The leading causes of death were heavy water (floods and turbidity) with 14 deaths, landslides with 10, lightning with 7 and house collapses with 4. 14 of the 38 deaths were caused by the record rainfall that hit the São Paulo metropolitan area early last week, in the 12 hours between the night of 10 and the morning of 11 November.
31 March Iran flash flood Floods and flash floods have caused widespread damage across Iran, with heavy rains since mid-March considered the worst in a decade, killing 57 people by 2 April. Floods affected at least 26 of Iran’s 31 provinces, with damaged roads reaching more than 30% of the country’s total, and electricity and communications were widely disrupted in the affected areas.
21 April Colombia Landslide At least 19 residents were killed in a landslide triggered by heavy rain on the morning of 21 April in Rosas, Cauca, south-west Colombia.
23 April Myanmar Landslide A landslide occurred at a jade mine in Hpakant, Kachin State, northern Myanmar, on the night of 22 April. Over 50 workers were buried alive during sleep.

In Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, eastern South Africa, recent heavy rains have caused flooding and landslides and a series of building collapses. The toll from the series of disasters was 33 dead and 42 injured.
6 June Uganda Landslide Five people were confirmed dead and about 50 missing following a series of landslides caused by heavy rains.
26 June Papua New Guinea volcanic eruption The volcano Ulawun (2,334 m) in the Bismarck Archipelago, Papua New Guinea, in the South Pacific, erupted at around 7 a.m. (6 a.m. EDT) on 26 June, spewing lava high into the sky. As of 27 June, some 5,000 people have been evacuated as a result of the eruption.
29 June India On 29 June, the glue surface on the boundary between the site and the outside of an apartment block collapsed in Pune, Maharashtra, western India. At least 15 people were killed.

Heavy monsoon rains across South Asia have caused at least 180 deaths. Millions of people have been affected, with residents forced to take shelter on higher ground after their homes were swept away.
In Mumbai, India, 10 people have so far died when buildings collapsed in a dense residential area after torrential rains. Around 50 people have died in India.
In Bangladesh, 34 people have died so far.
In Nepal, at least 78 people have been confirmed dead so far and 16,000 families have been displaced.
In Pakistan-controlled areas of Kashmir, flash floods have killed 23 people and damaged 120 houses.
23 July China Collapse As of 28 July, 42 people were dead and nine were missing in a massive collapses that occurred on 23 July in Shuicheng County, Liupanshui, Guizhou, China.
28 JUly Myanmar Collapse On 28 July, a cliff along a jade mine in Hpakant District, Kachin State, Myanmar, collapsed and fell about 500 feet (152 metres) into a lake, causing a landslide that killed at least 19 people.
4  Octomber South Korea Debrisflow Typhoon No. 18 caused debris flow disasters in southern South Korea due to 100 millimetres of rainfall per hour, killing 12 people and leaving three missing.
13 October southern Ethiopia Lndslide On 13 October, torrential rains in Konta, southern Ethiopia, lasted for 10 hours and triggered a landslide that swept away a house, killing 22 people.
19 Octomber Russia Fifteen people were killed and six others are missing after a dam burst in the early morning of 19 October in a village in the Krasnoyarsk region of eastern Siberia, Russia, and were swept away by flood.
23 November Kenya, Tanzania, Somalia, South Sudan Flood

Kenya, Tanzania, Somalia, South Sudan Floods and collapses At least 60 people have died in landslides in Kenya and 10 in Tanzania as a result of weeks of heavy rains in eastern Africa. In Kenya, heavy overnight rains triggered sediment disasters in Pokot County, 350 km north-west of the capital Nairobi, on the morning of 23 November. Houses were swept away and at least 29 people were killed. In Tanzania, at least 10 people were killed in the extreme west of Sengerema District, Mwanza Region. Tens of thousands of people were displaced in Somalia, several entire towns were flooded in South Sudan, and dozens of people were killed by flash floods and sediment disasters in Ethiopia.
26 November Democratic Republic of the Congo collapse Due to heavy rains,collapses occured in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and  have killed 41 people through November 26.
Three of the city’s 26 districts were particularly hard hit, and the current death toll is provisional.
9 December New Zealand volcanic eruption The volcanic eruption that occurred on December 9 on White Island (Whakaari, Maori name: Fakaari) off the northern coast of New Zealand killed one injured person who was hospitalized as of December 23, bringing the total number of victims to 19, including two missing people. At the time of the eruption, 47 people, mostly Australian tourists, were on White Island. Twenty-five people are still hospitalized, many in critical condition.
