Detail | This seminar was held in commemoration of the inauguration of the technological cooperative project between the Japanese and Brazilian governments, named “Project for Strengthening National Strategy of Integrated Natural Disaster Risk Management”, and was aimed at sharing knowledge between the Brazilian and Japanese governments and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). It had an additional aim of confirming the importance of international cooperation, and was joined by roughly 450 participants, from August 28th to 29th, 2013, in Rio de Janeiro City, Brazil.
In a keynote speech, Mr. Hiroyuki Ohno, Director of the Sabo (Erosion and Sediment Control) Department, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, delivered a presentation titled “Japan Disaster Prevention Policy”. In addition, a professor from the Institute for Technological Research, State of Sao Paulo, and the manager of the UNISDR Brazil office, gave speeches. Then, a presentation titled “Japanese Disaster Prevention Policy and its Application to Brazil” was delivered by the Specialist, Mr. Hori, as well as a presentation by Mr. Hitoshi Baba, Senior Advisor of JICA, titled “Japanese Disaster Prevention Policy and its Contribution to the Establishment of a Resilient Society”. Counterparts (implementing agencies) of the ministries and the agencies presented their opinions as well. |
