Greetings! I am Ramona Simeona G. Julabar. I am currently the Acting Resident Volcanology (ARV) of the Pinatubo Volcano Observatory (PVO) under the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). Last March 2005, I was privileged to join the Volcanology Course.
As the ARV of PVO, I oversee the operations of the observatory to ensure that monitoring of the volcano would be conducted efficiently. I also attend regular meetings of the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council in Central Luzon, Philippines. Part of my duties and responsibilities as an RV is to disseminate information to the public should there be queries on the status of the volcano.
After my training in Japan, I shared informations/skills I learned from the course with my fellow field observers in the different volcanological observatories in the Philippines when a training course on the PHIVOLCS-JICA Seismic Monitoring Network in the Philippines. At present, I am reprocessing the seismic data of Pinatubo Volcano. Moreover, I am also currently processing the seismic data of two other volcanoes in the Philippines.
I look forward to making connections with the other participants of the Volcanology course. There's so much studies being conducted by other countries and I hope to learn from all of you. I wish you all the best!
