For the purpose of discussing sediment disasters and transports caused by climate changes and tectonic activities in Asia and the trans-Pacific regions, the "International Symposium on Sediment Disasters under Influence of Climate Change and Tectonic Activity (3rd)" was held in the city of Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, from September 26-27, 2013. This was the third international symposium organized by the Japan Society of Erosion Control Engineering, continuing from the "Asia-Pacific Symposium on New Technologies for Prediction and Mitigation of Sediment Disasters" held in Tokyo, 2009, and "International Symposium on Sediment Disasters under the Influence of Climate Change and Tectonic Activity (2nd)" held in Sapporo, 2011.
Presentations including keynote lectures, poster sessions and workshops were held on the first day, and a field trip was conducted on the second day. The symposium had 51 participants from 9 countries.
